“What is a Lutheran” is a webpage project that was started by University Lutheran Church and Student Center in Tallahassee, FL.
We wanted to create a website that would be a place to draw people into a conversation about the meaning of Christianity from a Lutheran perspective and maybe learn a little bit.
We are members of an American Lutheran church body called the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. There are other Lutheran church bodies and while we share the same history and much of the same beliefs, there are times that we differ. Where there are differences, we have done our best to explain those in the fairest and kindest way possible.
This page is not endorsed by any church body. Again we are writing as members of an American Lutheran church body, but we are not that body itself. There are times when even members of our own church body may disagree with us on some minor points. That’s ok. It continues to draw us into conversations about meaning.
